Hamilton, NJ (September 29, 2015) Consolidated Services Group Inc. (CSG), a technology-driven, clinically-based medical claims management provider, today announced that its subsidiary, CHN PPO, will be ICD-10 compliant as of October 1, 2015.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will require covered entities (i.e., health plans, health care providers, and health care clearinghouses) that conduct electronic HIPAA standard transactions to move from ICD-9 to the next generation ICD-10 by October 1, 2015. ICD-10 is used to classify diseases and causes of illness recorded on health records, claims, and other vital information. The new ICD-10 classification system allows for a higher level of specificity over the ICD-9 code set.

The transition does not affect the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code set, which will continue to be used for outpatient services. Additionally, for clients who do not conduct electronic HIPAA standard transactions and are not required to comply with ICD-10, CHN PPO will continue to support the ICD-9 code set.

“CSG continues to align its ICD-10 program milestones with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recommended timeline for ICD-10 readiness,” said Craig Goldstein, chief operating officer for CSG. “We have a dedicated team executing a detailed implementation plan, including business requirements, system design and development, internal and external testing, medical policy updates, communication initiatives, and training,” he added.

The ICD-10 transition will affect nearly all provider systems and business processes. The complexity of the transition requires immediate action to address the business and clinical issues associated with the transition. To prepare for the transition to ICD-10, CSG recommends that its CHN PPO network providers develop a plan that includes an awareness campaign and education strategy, including:

Develop a budget and project timeline for the organization.

Identify the organization’s current systems and processes that use ICD-9 codes.

Contact current vendors about accommodations and readiness for ICD-10.

Identify potential impact to staff, billing services, work flow, and business processes.

“Consolidated Services Group is confident in its ICD-10 readiness,” said Michael A. Morrone, CSG Founder and CEO. “We are committed to working closely with our clients, providers and partners to ensure a smooth transition to this new classification standard.”

CSG has provided managed care, utilization review and bill review services in the northeastern United States for 35 years. Currently, the company is expanding its operations nationwide through partnerships with select PPO affiliates.
