July 24, 2013-Yale-New Haven Hospital Joins the CHN PPO Network

Hamilton, NJ (July 24, 2013) Consumer Health Network PPO (CHN PPO), a URAC-accredited network of over 125,000 health care providers, today announced that Yale-New Haven Hospital joined the CHN PPO Network.

Located in New Haven, Connecticut, Yale-New Haven Hospital includes Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital. Relying on the skill and expertise of more than 4,500 university and community physicians and advanced practitioners, including more than 600 resident physicians, Yale-New Haven Hospital provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary, family-focused care in more than 100 medical specialty areas.

This new partnership is expected to substantially strengthen the CHN PPO provider network, which has provided PPO networks for insurance carriers, TPAs, joint insurance funds, counties, municipalities and school boards for close to 25 years.

“CHN PPO continues to augment our provider network as we expand our presence in the Northeast and beyond,” said Michael A. Morrone, CHN president. “We are proud to welcome Yale-New Haven Hospital, the largest hospital in Connecticut and among the best in the United States.”

Each provider in the CHN PPO network undergoes a rigorous credentialing process, including a re-credentialing process every three years in accordance with URAC standards. Specialties include primary care, occupational medicine, orthopedics, physical therapy, and surgery in hospitals, trauma centers and urgent care facilities throughout the Northeastern United States. CHN also offers health care services nationwide through a network of PPO affiliates.

For Yale-New Haven Hospital, the partnership will provide access to the growing list of workers’ compensation, group health and automobile policyholders served by the CHN PPO network.

“We are excited and look forward to our new relationship with CHN PPO,” said Gary Johnston, director of managed care at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
